History

HISTORY OF THE BLACK SWAMP SPINNER’S GUILD

Established in the mid 1970′s, BSSG was organized to stimulate interest in spinning and fiber arts by interaction with each other; to educate members through lectures, workshops and area groups, and to encourage public interest in and appreciation for fiber arts.

Members of BSSG meet once a month, September through May, to share ideas, participate in lectures and workshops, and to provide one another with mutual support and inspiration.

Hand spinners from over four counties have formed study and area groups. Members of these groups meet on a monthly basis outside regular Guild meetings.

PURPOSE

The Black Swamp Spinner’s Guild is an organization to promote friendship and understanding among it’s members; to assist members through education, discussions and programs in the pursuit of spinning, and to share their craft through demonstrations and teaching.
